Before Luke McCaffrey, Scott McLaughlin transferred back home to Houston after two years at Nebraska (1980-81) and then started as a guard and tackle at Rice in 1983 and 1984. He won the George R. Former Rice pitcher Lucas Luetge has been on both sides of a MLB no-hitter. On April 21, 2012, he pitched one inning for the Mariners who lost a perfect game to former Rice pitcher Philip Humber and the White Sox, 4-0. Six weeks later, on June 8, he combined with other Mariner pitchers to throw a no-hitter against the Dodgers, 1-0. (Thanks, Betty Bixby and Joe Graves!)
