On Saturday, three of the five Houston District Winners have Rice ties (they have or are working toward their MM from the Shepherd School): Megan Brillesllyper, Luke Sutliff and Anna Thompson. The Houston District Winners advance to the Laffont Gulf Coast Region in New Orleans on February 2.

Betty Ligon (1929-2024):
On December 9, Betty Ligon passed away. A native Texan, she attended Rice (class of 1951) where she met her future husband Richard Ligon ’48. They were married seventy years when he passed away in 2018. Together, they raised three children. Also, her favorite hobby was playing bridge and she was very active in the community and at the church. Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
