Emma Frizzell (1958-2021):
On January 29, Emma Frizzell passed away.  A native Houstonian, she graduated from Rice in 1980 with a BA in Art and Art History.  She was a talented artist and a valued design and production associate at the Houston graphic design firm Public Address Design for twenty-five years.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Julian West:
Cerium sidelines silver to make drug precursor (Rice News)

Leo Wade Jr:
On February 4, Leo Wade Jr passed away at the age of 81.  Raised in Oklahoma, he earned a BA in Physics from Rice in 1962, a Master’s Degree and PhD in the field of Radiation Biophysics from the University of Kansas and an additional Master’s Degree in Studies of the Future from UH.  His work centered around scientific and medical related research and later he moved into state and national legislation and University Administration. Also, he “loved music, art, theatre and travel”.  He is survived by, among others, his wife Donna.  Click here for the Austin American-Statesman obituary.

James May Sr (1937-2021):
On February 15, James May Sr passed away.  Born in North Dakota, he earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rice in 1960.  He “created and managed several successful companies” and he was “an avid reader, golfer, snow skier and tennis player”.  He leaves behind the “Rice Group”, after 65 years of being together.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
