Dr. Frank Vandiver did not graduate from high school but earned a masters from UT and a PhD from Tulane and served as acting Rice president from 1969 to 1970 as well as University of North Texas president from 1979 to 1981 and Texas A&M president from 1981 to 1988.  Click here for the Rice News obituary dated January 13, 2005.
