Jim Castaneda graduated from Drew University summa cum laude in Spanish, enjoyed a brief stint in the Baltimore Orioles farm system and eventually coached the Owls golf team for fifteen years.  On November 1, 2008 he passed away – click here for the obituary.  (Thanks, Mike Ross!)

Penn head volleyball coach is Meredith Schamun, a four-year Rice letterwinner (2007-10).  This weekend, the Quakers open their 2023 season with three games at the Houston Christian University tournament. (Thanks, Mike Ross!)

Sarah Piper is a grad transfer from Duke (Biomedical Engineering) on the Rice soccer team.  Her brother Philip played soccer at Yale and her sister Grace played soccer at Texas A&M.  Both were team captains.  (Thanks, Chris Kohnhorst and Mike Ross!)
