On Wednesday night, Rice defeated Sam Houston, 13-5, at Reckling Park. Richard Linklater, the uncle of former Owl pitcher Jackson Parthasarathy, played baseball for the Bearkats in 1980.  Interestingly, he played his senior year of high school baseball at Bellaire where he was teammates with Mike Fox (Rick hit 2 hole and Mike hit cleanup!)  (Thanks, Mike Fox!)

Henry John Deutschendorf Jr, known professionally as John Denver, studied architecture at Texas Tech and won an Emmy and two Grammys.  Interestingly, his father, Henry John Deutschendorf Sr, was a famous Air Force pilot who set several world speed records including one in a B-58 Hustler.  (Thanks, Guy Rollins and Mike Ross!)

This weekend, the Owls host the Red Raiders in a three-game set at Reckling Park.

With 90 as of last Thursday, Carl Pierre became the Rice M Basketball single-season record holder for three-pointers made.  Interestingly, Egor Koulechov set the single-season record for three-pointers attempted with 234 in 2016.  (Thanks, Chris Kohnhorst!)
