Shepherd School of Music Professor Art Gottschalk, who was honored with an ARA Meritorious Service Award in 2016, started Michigan as a pre-med student and finished with three degrees (Bachelor of Music degree in Music Composition in 1974, a Master of Arts degree in Music Composition and English Literature in 1975 and a Doctorate in Music Composition in 1978). Reagan Rutherford is a member of the NCAA W Volleyball National Championship Kentucky Wildcat team whose father was four-year Rice football letterman Deric Rutherford ‘95 (1991-92-93-94). Her mother Latosha Clark Rutherford (SHS ’96) was a Sam Houston State W Basketball letterwinner (1994).
