Ope Amosu has been named a 2026 James Beard Award finalist in the category Best Chef Texas.  His restaurant ChopNBlok started as a pop-up before becoming a vendor at Post Houston food hall in 2021 and now has a standalone brick-and-mortar location at 507 Westheimer in Montrose since October 2024.  Read more.

Charlcy Black (1931-2026):
On March 18, Charlcy Black passed away.  A native Texan, she attended Rice (Brown College, class of 1952).  She enjoyed a career with LTV and Lockheed Martin.  Also, she “was an avid traveler, skier, golfer and bridge player”.  She is predeceased by her husband Donald (they were married for sixty-one years when he passed away in 2014).  Click here for The Dallas Morning News obituary.
