Melissa Fu '95:
Peach Blossom Spring is Melissa Fu’s first novel and “is a bold and moving look at the history of modern China, told through the story on one family”. Melissa graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Rice in 1995 with a double major in English and Chemical Physics. Read more.
Bob Malinak (1936-2022):
On November 29, Bob Malinak passed away. A native Texan, he earned a BA in Economics from Rice in 1958 where he was Sports Editor of The Thresher in his senior year. In 1961, he earned a JD from UT Law. He was a trial lawyer with Baker Botts until 1999 and then was an arbitrator and mediator as well as a consultant to lawyers who represented attorneys who had been sued. Also, he was an author, a world traveler and an unwavering supporter of Rice Athletics as well as active in the community and at his church.

Dr Arthur Few Jr (1939-2022):
On December 3, Dr Arthur Few Jr passed away. He earned a BS from Southwestern in 1962 and a PhD from Rice in 1969. He enjoyed a long and successful career in atmospheric physics as a member of the Rice faculty. Also, he and his wife Joan were the first magisters of Martel College from 2000 to 2005. He is survived by, among others, Joan (they were married sixty years in July). Click here for the obituary.
