Last month, Caleb McDaniel reviewed "WE WERE ILLEGAL: Uncovering a Texas Family's Mythmaking and Migration", the new book by Jessica Goudeau for the New York Times Book Review.
Brian Holmes (1967-2024):
On May 10, Brian Holmes passed away "in hospice care of natural causes after a brief, unexpected hospitalization". Born in Arizona, he graduated from Rice in 1989 and UT Houston for medical school. He enjoyed a career as a radiologist spent mostly in private practice and then as an assistant professor and attending physician of radiology at UT Southwestern. "He was a loving, protective and generous husband and father" and he "had a deep, genuine love of learning". He is survived by, among others, his wife of nearly nineteen years, Laila.
