Niamh Collins is a freshman on the Rice Women’s Track team. Both her parents are former Rice student-athletes. Her mother Alexis (Smith) Collins ’99 was a four-year track letterwinner (1995-96-97-98) and her father Robert Collins ’00 was a four-year tennis letterwinner (1996-98-99-00). Javier Vasquez, the father of Rice baseball player Javier Vasquez, was a major league pitcher and threw a shutout inning in the 2004 MLB All-Star game.
