Shawn Travis:
On September 23, Shawn Travis passed away “unexpectedly of natural causes” at the age of 52.  He grew up in Kansas City MO and earned a BA from Rice in 1991, a PhD from Princeton in 1998 and a JD from Harvard Law in 2001.  He had a “long and fulfilling career“ at Vanguard in Malvern PA as well as enjoying “a key project” outside of work.  He is survived by, among others, his wife Susan and their daughters Eleanor and Beya.  Click here for the obituary.

Dr Robert Grossman (1933-2021):
On October 7, Dr Robert Grossman, a pioneering neurosurgeon at Houston Methodist, passed away. Two of his daughters graduated from Rice, Dr. Amy Grossman Coburn with a BA in Biology in 1981 and Kate Grossman Rose with a Master of Architecture in 1992 and a MBA in 1998.  Also, Amy served on the Friends of Fondren Library board for several years.  Click here for the Chronicle story.
