Sam Houston is the only American to be elected governor of two different States (Tennessee in 1827 and Texas in 1859). Condoleezza Rice, who earned a master’s degree from Notre Dame in 1975, was the first female African-American to serve as US Secretary of State.  Yesterday, she was on campus to speak at a Baker Institute event.  And, this weekend, the Owls open the 2024 baseball season with a weekend series against the Fighting Irish.  (Thanks, Walt Greenberg and Mike Ross!)
