Former Rice cheerleaders Michol Ecklund ’97 and Claudia Gee Vassar ‘99 are current members of the Rice Board of Trustees.  Interestingly, Rice Trustee Emeriti and Trustee Advisors include former Rice cheerleaders Judy Ley Allen (class of 1961), Albert Kidd ‘64/’65 and Charles Szalkowski ‘70/’71.   (Thanks, Mike Ross!)

Chemist Max Roy, who earned a BA (1931) and MA (1933) from Rice and a PhD (1937) from the University of Illinois Urbana, worked on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos and became director of the Explosives Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1946.  Also, he funded the Max Roy Scholarship at Rice.
