Reagan Rutherford  is a member of the NCAA W Volleyball National Championship Kentucky Wildcat team whose father was four-year Rice football letterman Deric Rutherford ‘95 (1991-92-93-94). Her mother Latosha Clark Rutherford (SHS ’96) was a Sam Houston State W Basketball letterwinner (1994). 

Interestingly, Reagan and Owl Nia McCardell were high school teammates at Ridge Point HS.  (Thanks, Joe Graves and Mike Ross!)

Dr Anne McLaurin (1946-2021):
On April 22, Dr Anne McLaurin passed away from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.  Born in Boston, she earned a BA in Biology from Rice in 1969 (where she was homecoming queen in 1968) and a MD from the University of Cincinnati in 1974.  She enjoyed a long career in medicine in Miami, Raleigh and throughout Wake County NC.  Also, she was active in the community, especially when her husband Charles was mayor of Raleigh from 2001 to 2011.  In 2016, she was inducted into the Raleigh Hall of Fame.  She is survived, by among others, Charles (they were married in 1980).  Click here for The News & Observer obituary.
