On February 15, 1955, Joe Durrenberger ‘56 became the first and only Rice Owl in school history with a 30/30 basketball game, recording 32 points and a record 30 (out of 66) rebounds in a 80-68 win over Baylor. Click here for a game recap from the February 18, 1955 Thresher, page 6 (unfortunately, Joe’s last name was misspelled.) In 1994, he was inducted into the Rice Athletic Hall of Fame.
