In the fall of 1975, Rice played a NCAA level short softball season.  Future Houston mayor Annise Parker ’78 played shortstop or first base on the team.  The team went 0-4.  Other teammates included Ben’s sister Martha '77 (third base) and Dena Gudahl '78 (outfield).  Read more here (August 21, 1975 The Rice Thresher, p. 7)   (Thanks, Mike Ross!)
