Elvin Bethea ’68 was the first North Carolina A&T alumnus to be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  He played his entire professional career – sixteen seasons – with the Houston Oilers.  Today, Rice faces North Carolina A&T in the first round of the NCAA Volleyball Championship in Omaha.  (Thanks, Joe Graves and Mike Ross!)

Leigh Henderson Cox Jr (1925-2021):
On April 8, Leigh Henderson Cox Jr passed away.  A native Texan, he served in WWI and then earned a BS in 1948 and a MS in 1950 in Mechanical Engineering from Rice.  He enjoyed a career at Humble Pipeline (Exxon) and at Brown & Root (Halliburton).  After retirement, he and his late wife Lorene (she passed away in 2008) moved to their ranch in Walker County.  Also, he “loved to travel and explore various cultures”.  Click here for the obituary.
