The Owls tacked on two more runs in the tenth.  With one out, Leon Byrd singled to center.  Tristan Gray reached on a fielder's choice grounder to first.  The first-baseman threw errantly to second with Leon going to third on the bad throw.

Teykl tripled to the right-field corner driving home two runs.  Connor was stranded as two outs followed.

October 8, 2014 - Blue 2, Gray 1 (3 innings)

It was great to be back to see my first scrimmage of the fall.  I must admit that the sauna that was Reckling Park today was a major change from the freezing temps of Memorial Stadium in Champagne, IL last Saturday.  I'll take the sauna.

Seven pitchers toed the rubber for no more than one inning each.  The scrimmage lasted three innings and about 50 minutes.

Gray posted one run off Austin Orewiler in the top of the first.  Charlie Warren singled to deep short on the first pitch.  Charlie stole second.  Dane Myers singled to center.  Charlie rounded third but returned to third on the throw home.  Dane took second on the throw.

A ground out to first followed with the runners holding position.

Khevin Brewer hit a fielder's choice grouder.  The throw home chased Charlie back to third.  Dane had advanced toward third but was out on the play.

Kevin McCanna ripped an RBI single to right to score Charlie.  A pop-out to the catcher ended the inning.

With Blake Fox pitching the first for Gray, the first batter flew out to right.

Ryan Chandler singled to second-base.  The next batter flew out to center.  Ryan must have stolen second-base at some point. I was messing with my score book and missed it. He then took third on a wild pitch.  A ground out to short cut the rally short.

Ricardo Salinas pitched a 1-2-3 second for Blue.

Ryan McCarthy pitched the second for Gray.  Kirby Taylor hit a single to right to get the inning underway.  Connor Teykl forced Kirby but advanced to second as the throw to first was wild.

An infield ground-out was the second out of the inning.  A called third strike ended the frame.

The score was 1-0 Gray going into the third inning.

Glenn Otto pitched the third for Blue.  He struck-out the side.

Tristan Gray started the third for Gray.  Hunter Kopycinski greeted him with a very deep drive to left-center.  Khevin Brewer ran it down on the warning track making a great running catch.

Chandler singled to center.  He appeared to be picked-off but the ball was dropped as he took second base.   Grayson Lewis singled Chandler home.  Lewis taking second on the throw home.

Leon Byrd followed with another single to center scoring Lewis to put Blue up 2-1.  Leon advanced to second on the attempt at home.

John Williamson relieved Tristan.  Leon took third on a ground-out to the right-side.  A fly to center ended the scrimmage.
