Johnelle Morrow Cortner (1926-2024):
On May 26, Johnelle Morrow Cortner passed away. A fifth generation native Houstonian, she graduated from Rice in 1946 where she was a member of the Women’s council, the student council and the Owen Wister Literary Society. She was active in the community, especially as an advocate for the deaf and the hearing impaired due to her own hearing loss. She is predeceased by, among others, her husband, Eugene.
