Jamie Randol (1943-2024:
On March 20, Jamie Randol, the wife of the late Burton Randol ’59, passed away. A native Houstonian, they originally met when she took a summer class at Rice while in high school that was taught by Burton as a Rice student. They were married in 1964. She graduated from Harvard in 1965 with a mathematics major.
After he earned a PhD at Princeton, he taught mathematics at Princeton, Yale and City University of New York. Her career path was not as straightforward – she was a teacher, an assistant computer programmer and she worked for IBM for over two decades. After IBM, she earned a master’s degree in biology at Einstein University and later landscape certificates at the New York Botanical Garden.
She is predeceased by among others, Burton (he passed away in 2021. Click here for the obituary to read about her remarkable life.
