Don Maynard (Thanks, Russ Coleman '82!):
A recent Washington Post story about the NFL concussion settlement mentions the late Don Maynard in several places. He started his collegiate career at Rice where he was on a track scholarship for the fall semester of his freshman year (class of 1957) before transferring to Texas Western (now named UTEP). He played in the NFL from 1958 to 1973, won Super Bowl III with the Jets and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.
Luke McCaffrey (Thanks, Dan Hyde '68 and Alex Johnson '78/'81!):
During Senior Bowl practices this week, Luke McCaffrey is impressing ESPN’s Matt Miller with his “expert- level route running ability” and believes “the arrow is pointing up on his stock”.
