Henry deForest Ralph Jr (1933-2022):
On January 25, Henry deForest Ralph Jr passed away. Born in Washington DC, he earned a BA in 1955 and a BS in 1956 in Chemical Engineering from Rice. He worked for a number of oil and gas companies, the longest with Coastal States, and he formed his own consulting business in the mid-1980s. Also, he was involved in the community and in his church.
And, he was “forever active with all things Rice: athletics, music, and academics”. In the 1980s, he was president of Rice Engineering Alumni and he established an annual scholarship prize in honor of Bob Dickson, “his roommate who died tragically in 1953 while on a Navy ROTC flight”.
He is predeceased by, among others, his wife Martha (they were married in 1954 and she passed away in 2012). Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
