The Visiting team took the first Fall Ball scrimmage 3-0 today. The pitchers for the visitors were:

The Rice Owl's Baseball squad played the second scrimmage of the fall today.
The game ended in a 3-3 tie.
The Visitors took the lead in the first inning with 3 runs.
Smigelski homered to start the game.
Royo walked and advanced on a fielding error and a wild pitch.
Johnson walked.
Runners advanced on catcher's interference.
Royo and Johnson scored on Smith's single.
The Visitors had only one more hit. A double by Dukes in the fourth
The Home squad scored twice in the second. Gallo walked and stole second.
Rosengard followed with a walk. Runners advanced on a fielder's choice.
Gallo scored on a passed ball. Rosengard to third. Deveny drove home Rosengard with a grounder to short.
The home squad added another run in the third. Salazar was HBP. He stole second.
Duffield was HBP. Runners moved up on a passed ball. Salazar scores on a wild pitch. Gallo walked later. Pitch count called the inning.

UH prevailed in the scheduled 12 inning scrimmage 9-2
Houston scored single runs in the 4th, 7th and 11th. They scored 2 runs in each of the 5th, 6th and 10th innings.
Rice pitchers struck out 17 and walked 3. Davis and Duke each threw pitches in the upper 90's.
Rice scored two runs in the 7th. Salazar started the frame with a single. Johnson followed with another. Salazar to third.
A passed ball moved the runners up. Salazar scored. Johnson to third. Johnson scored on a sacrifice by Rosengard.
Becker walked. Two outs closed the rally.
Rice had 8 singles. The following each had one: Becker, Walsh, Rosengard, Salazar, Johnson, Duffield, Devenny, and West.

On Friday, the team scrimmaged for 5 innings with the Blue and White squads each scoring 5 runs.

Blue went on top in the third when Dukes walked. Gallo homered to score two. Johnson walked and scored on Becker's homer.

White tied it up in the fifth. With one out Becker singled. Rosengard followed with a double. Royo continued the rally with another singled.
Smigelski walked and Smith reached on fielder's choice third. Walsh reached fielder's choice. The inning ended on a grounder to third. Three runs scored to knot it up at 5-5.
They are scrimmaging again on Saturday.
October 22, 2022
White beat Navy 3-2 today with a run in the top of the 9th inning.
White took the lead in the second inning on a Devenny double and two infield ground-outs.
White added to their lead in the third inning. Smigelski opened the frame with a walk.
Salazar singled. The run scored when Riedel and Smith also walked.
The score remained 2-0 until Navy scored a single run in the fifth. Johnson walked. He advanced on a wild pitch.
Royo singled Johnson to third. The runner scored on an infield grounder. A strikeout ended the inning.
White leads 2-1 after 5 innings .
Navy would eventually tie the score in the bottom of the eighth when Garza homered to open the inning.
In the top of the ninth, White regained the lead. West singled with one out. He advanced to second on a
grounder to the right-side of the infield. He scored on an infield error.
That was the final score. White wins 3-2.

The Owls beat the HCU Huskies on their field by 18-13 in 12 innings.
The game was scoreless through the first two innings.
In the top of the third, Rice scored three runs after two quick outs. Johnson walked. Walsh doubled him home. Garibay followed with a two run homer.
HCU scored four unearned runs in the bottom of the third. HCU leads 4-3 after 3 innings.
Huskies scored two more unearned runs in the fourth.
Owls were down 3-6 after 4 innings.
In the fifth, Rice sent 11 men to the plate and scored 7 runs.
Devenny singled with one out. Johnson homered to score the first two runs.
Walsh reached on an infield error. Garibay walked. Becker was HBP. Rosengard walked. Walsh scored.
Gallo walked to score Garibay. Riedel hit sac-fly to score Becker. Garza singled home driving home Rosengard and Gallo.
An out followed to close the rally.
HCU failed to score.
Owls lead 10-6.
Rice added two more in the sixth. Johnson walked in front of Walsh who doubled him home.
Walsh taking third. Garibay sacrificed Walsh home. Becker singled.A fielder's choice and grounder to third ended the innings.
HCU failed to score I the sixth.
Rice continued scoring with an additional 3 runs in the seventh. Riedel and Garza each singled. Riedel to third.
Devenny hit a sac-fly ball to right that was misplayed. Three runs scored Devenny credited with one RBI.
Two outs followed. Garibay walked. Becker doubled. A strikeout ended the seventh for Rice.
Huskies scored 2 runs in the seventh.
After 7 innings it was Rice leading 15-8.
The lineups were changed for the last 5 innings.
Rice scored once the eight. Devenny singled. Johnson doubled. Devenny scored on infield grounder. Two outs followed'
The Owls followed with 2 more runs in the ninth. Royo singled. Riedel forced him at second. Duffield walked. Rosengard reached on an error. Riedel scored. Duffield to third. Rosengard to second. Devenny scored Duffield with a ground-out short to first. Rosengard to third. A fly out ended the inning. Rice would not score again.
HCU failed to score in innings 8,9, and 10.
Rice was up 18-8 after 10.
HCU scored a single run in the 11th and 4 more in the bottom of the 12th to make the final

November 2, 2022
The Visiting squad scored 2 runs in the second, 2 more in the third and a lone run in the fourth.
The Home side scored a single run in the third.
In the second inning for the Visitors, Gallo walked. Rosengard singled to right. Gallo scampered to third. Garza grounded out to the right-side. Gallo scored. Rosengard reached second. He was picked off second. Riedel homered to left. Inning called.
In the third, the Away squad scored when Walsh homered to left-center after Johnson had walked. After Garibay walked, the inning was called on pitch count.
The home team broke through to score once in the third. Dukes singled to left with one out. He stole second. Devenny walked. Royo grounded up the middle. The throw to first was wide. West scored. Inning was called with two runners stranded.
The Visitors scored the last run of the scrimmage in the top of the fourth. With one out, Gallo singled up the middle. He stole second and advanced to third on the errant throw. Rosengard singled to right. Gallo scored. Garza flied to right for the second out. Rosengard was picked off first in a multiple throw pickle.
It was a quick scrimmage. The field looks great.Ribbon cutting tomorrow around 4:00 PM.
November 5, 2022
The teams scrimmaged for 8 innings with the Home team (white uniforms) winning 7-5.
The Home squad scored three runs in the first. With one out, Johnson walked. He stole second. After a strikeout, Garibay homered
for two runs. Riedel doubled and scored on a Gallo single.
The visitors scored one run in the top of the second on a Duffield HR.
The Visitors added two more runs in the fourth inning. Four walks followed a fly out. One run in. A passed ball allowed the second run to score.
After 4 innings, the game was tied 3-3.
The Home squad took the lead on a two run HR by Salazar which followed a walk to Garza.
The score remained Home 5-3 until the eighth inning.
The Visitors tied the score in the top eighth on HRs by Smigelski and West.
The Home squad scored two runs. Garibay walked. Gallo homered to score Garibay.
Final 7-5 Home.
November 9, 2022
What an absolutely beautiful evening for outdoor baseball The two squads battled to a 2-2 draw.
Each starter went three innings. Each of the four relievers pitched two innings.
McCrackin opened for the home team. He allowed two runs on on three hits. He walked four and struck out three.
Rodriguez pitched the first three innings for the away team. After two scoreless and hitless innings, the home squad rallied for two runs.
Dukes walked. Royo singled on a dribbler that stayed fair on the new turf. After a strikeout Garza, singled to right. Dukes scored.
Royo to third. Becker grounded to first, forcing Garza at second. Royo scored on the fielder's choice. A ground-out to the second
baseman ended the inning.
The four relievers then pitched scoreless baseball.
Perkins pitched two shutout innings for the home squad. He gave up three singles and walked one.
For the away team, Urbanczyk allowed no runs, one single and struck out three in his two frames.
Stratton finished for the home team. No runs, no hits, three strikeouts and two walks.
T. Vincent closed for the road crew. No runs, one walk, one HBP, one infield single to first with three strikeouts.

November 10, 2022
Today's scrimmage started at 3;30 PM. It ended in another 2-2 draw.
The visiting team took a 2-0 lead in the second inning against the home squad's starter Krishna Raj.
Raj pitched a scoreless first. In the second, West singled to left. Devenny singled to right. West to second.
Each runner advanced a base on a wild pitch. After an infield fly rule pop out and a strikeout, Dukes singled
to center. West and Devenny each scored. Royo walked but a strikeout ended the frame.
Raj allowed 2 runs, 3 hits, 1 walk and 4 Ks.
Meanwhile Zaskoda pitched two shutout innings for the away squad. Zaskoda allowed 0 runs, 3 hits, 1 walk and 1 K.
Micah Davis blanked the visitors in his two innings. His line was 0 runs, 0 hits, 2 walks and 4 Ks.
Parker Smith pitched the third inning against the home team. His line was 0 runs, 2 hits and 1 K.
Long would pitch the final two stanzas against the home crew.
In the fourth, home scored two runs. Riedel started the rally with a ground-rule double to left.
He advanced to third on a ground out to the right-side of the infield. Walsh hit a deep sac-fly to right to score Riedel.
Garibay walked. Garibay was off with the pitch and scored easily on Becker's double to right-center.
Inning called.
Linskey closed the scrimmage against the away team. Linskey walked two and got three fly outs. No runs and no hits.
Long shut down the home team with 2 Ks and a pop-up in the fifth.
His line was 2 runs, 2 hits and a free pass.

November 16, 2022 - Fall Ball World Series, Game 1
On a crisp fall evening, the visiting Janish team beat the Hardy Boys 5-2.
All the scoring for the match took place in the first three innings. Parker Smith started for Hardy's team.
Rodriquez was the starter for Janish.
JP's lead-off batter Garibay walked. Riedel followed with a double to left. Garibay to third.
Gallo hit a ball toward second. The ball fell in front of the second baseman. Gallo out at first.
Garibay scored. Riedel to third. Becker was hit-by-pitch. Garza hit a sac-fly to left. Riedel came home.
A fly out ended the rally.
Hardy's Boys answered with a single run.
Rosengard reached second on an infield error. Walsh singled up-the-middle to score Rosengard.
Walsh was caught stealing. Smigelski walked. A strikeout and infield fielder's choice ended the frame.
JP's squad was up 2-1 after 1.
Following two quick outs, Garibay reached on an infield single. Riedel walked. Long received Smith.
Gallo singled to left driving home Garibay. Becker walked. A fly to center ended the second for the visitors.
The home squad failed to score in the second.
3-1 Janish after 2.
Team Janish added 2 more runs in the top of the third.
Devenny walked between 2 strikeouts. Garibay dropped a single into left. Riedel doubled to left scoring Devenny.
Garibay to third. Gallo walked to load the bases. Garibay scored when a pitch got away from the catcher.
A strikeout ended the inning.
Smigelski hit a HR to leadoff the bottom of the third. Linskey relieved. There was no further scoring after that.
The score was 5-2 Janish squad after three.
It remained that way for the next four innings.

November 17, 2022 - Fall Ball World Series, Game 2
Hardy Boys rally with 2 runs in ninth and hold on to take game 2 by 3-2.
McCracken went five shutout inning for Janish. He retired the first twelve batters he faced. In the fifth, Hanningan singled to left to break up the perfect game. McCracken retired the next three batters. He had six strikeouts.
Zaskoda started for the Hardy Boys. He pitched three shutout inning. He allowed a lone infield single to Duffield in the bottom of the second. He struck out three and walked four.
Stratton relieved Zaskoda in the fourth. Devenny coaxed a walk to open the fourth. After a strikeout and a passed ball pushed Devenny to second, Garibay singled ro right to score Devenny for the first run of the game. Stratton retired the next six batters until Duffield doubled to left with one out in the bottom of the fifth. Stratton was relieved after he walked Garibay. Durke came on to close the frame. Stratton gave up one run on one hit. He registered three Ks and two BB.
Janish was on top 1-0 after 5 innings.
Perkins relieved McCracken in the sixth. With one out, Walsh walked. He moved to third on Smigelski's single to center. Walsh takes third. Salazar hit a sac-fly to right to score Walsh and tie the game.
With Durke and Perkins continuing to hold the other team scoreless through the eighth inning, the game went to the ninth still tied at 1-1.
Perkins pitched three innings. His line was one run, two hits, four Ks and two walks. Smith singled in the eighth for the other hit off him.
Crews came into pitch for Janish in the ninth. Three straight walks loaded the bases. A fourth walk to Smith scored the first run. A fielder's choice grounder to short cut the runner down at the plate. Smigelski hit a sac-fly to center to score the second run. The rally ended on a catcher to first ground-out. Crews one inning, two runs, four walks.
Hardy Boys lead 3-1.
Durke continued to pitch the bottom of the ninth. After a ground out, Royo doubled to deep center. Durke struck out the next batter and reached his pitch limit. Urbanczyk relieved. Duffield doubled to deep center. Royo scored. Garibay represented to winning run. Garibay battled through the first seven pitches. Urbanczyk struck him out swinging to knot the series at 1-1.
Durke's line was one run, one hit, two BB, HBP, and six K. Urbanczyk one hit and one K.
Final in nine innings was Hardy Boys 3 Janish 2.
Deciding game tomorrow.
November 17, 2022 - Fall Ball World Series, Game 3
With depleted pitching staffs, the scrimmage was to go no more than three innings.
In the top of the first, K. Raj held the Hardy Boys scoreless. C. Hannigan grounded out to second.
P. Smith worked a 10 pitch walk. A. Smigelski and C. Walsh each struck out.
The Janish team struck for nine runs in the bottom of the first.
G. Garibay out on a grounder to third. J. Riedel walked. P. Gallo walked. M. Garza sacrificed the runners to second and third.
N. Becker was intentionally walked. B. Royo walked sending home the first run. T. Duffield singled to left. The second run scored. Bases still loaded. J. Devenny walked to push home the third run. G. Garibay continued the walk parade and the fourth run scored. J. Riedel then connected for a grand slam HR to right. Score is now 8-0. P. Gallo homered to left center. 9-0. After M. Garza singled to right center, the inning was called.
T. Fox relieved in the top of the second. B. Rosengard hit a pop-up into foul territory behind third base that J. Riedel made a nice catch going away from the infield. C. Salazar was HBP. G. West popped to second and B. Dukes struck out.
It was decided to call the game at this point.
Janish's team takes the series 2-1.
