For Gray, Bordwine and Deskins each pitched a scoreless inning. Wood and Deskins each recorded a strikeout.
For Blue, DeLeon, Conlon and Brogdon each pitched a scoreless inning. Brogdon had two strikeouts. Kane had one strikeout.
The visitors did their scoring in the last two frames. Combs hit a deep HR to right scoring T. Cruz. In the fifth, T. Cruz hit a three run HR to right scoring Benitez and Dunlap who had singled. Combs had the last hit with an infield single.
The home team grabbed an early lead in the first. Comeaux reached on an infield single. Hernandez drove him home with a double down the left-field line. Beaulaurier hit a ground rule double to center scoring Hernandez. Bulman singled to right pushing Beaulaurier to third. Collins hit a sac-fly to right. Beaulaurier scored Martin made a great diving catch on the play.
Hernandez reached on a double that dropped between the left and center-fielders in the second .In the third, Beaulaurier walked. With one out, Collins homered to right for the final two runs for Blue.
The following players each had a stolen base: Beaulaurier (as a pinch runner), A. Cruz, T. Cruz and Benitez and Dunlap.
The teams will do it again tomorrow.
September 25, 2019 - Scrimmage #2

Once again it was a beautiful late summer/early fall day for baseball.
Home won 4-1 or 8-4. Coach Bragga wants to make each inning a completion. Points are awarded for each actual run scored. Another point is given for each runner left on base if an inning is called on pitch count. An additional is given for each out short of 3 in an inning.

Each pitcher pitched in one inning. Some for more than 3 outs and some fewer than 3 outs.
The visitors broke on top in the first. Comeaux singled to center. T. Cruz and Combs each walked. Comeaux scored on a wild pitch. Inning was called after a strikeout. Visitors awarded 4 points.
The Home squad scored a run in the first on a walk to Dunlap. He moved to second on an infield hit by Bulman. Dunlap stole third and scored on a wild pitch. Home gets one point.
Larzabal pitched a scoreless second inning recording five outs with two strikeouts and a walk.
Content pitched a scoreless second frame. Martin singled. Content struck out one and walked one.
In the third inning, Santos pitched a scoreless inning. He recorded four outs. He struck out one and walked one.
Home tallied one run in the third. Bulman was HBP. A. Cruz walked. An infield ground out advanced Bulman and A. Cruz each up a base. Bulman scored on a wild pitch. Plum struck out the final batter to end the inning. One point.
Zaskoda pitched a scoreless five out fourth inning. Hannigan singled to short left. After a fly out to center, the home squad turned a 6-4-3 DP. A ground-out followed. The inning ended as Zaskoda struck out the last batter he faced.
Home squad rallied to score two runs and garnered six points in the bottom of the fourth. Gneiting doubled to right. Gneiting stole third. Beaulaurier singed to left. Gneiting scored. Beaulaurier stole second and third. Dunlap singled him home. Cade Edwards walked on a full count giving the home team a total of six points for the inning.
September 29, 2019 - Scrimmage #3
An evening of beautiful weather and various baseball situations every inning. Each inning started with no outs and runners on different bases late in the game. Sometimes pitchers pitched with a lead or sometimes with their team behind. Each pitcher pitched in one inning.
The home team rallied in their final at bat to win.

More Situational Innings
Today, the squads played seven innings of several variations of baseball situations. The scrimmage started shortly after 3:00 PM. Broken clouds with a light breeze and temps around 90.
J. Larzabal pitched the first situation for for the home squad. He came in with a 2 run lead in the sixth inning with runners @1B & 2B and no outs.
Leading-off A. Bulman doubled to the left field corner driving in the man on second. The other runner advanced to third. Larzabal retired the next two batters. A ground out to short and a pop-up to short. The runner remained at third. D. Hernandez walked. A fly out to center ended the inning. Larzabal's team wins the inning. Larzabel didn't complete a second inning.
B. Content pitched the first two situations. His first situation for the visitors was identical to Larzabal's.
An unassisted ground out to first moved the runner on first to second. The runner held at third. B. Comeaux singled to center. The inherited runners each scored. A foul pop out and a ground out to to third ended the inning. Content's squad lost that inning.
Content then pitched for the home squad. Situation was top of 5th inning with bases loaded and no outs and his team up 6-3.
T. LaRue hit a sac-fly to right. The lead runner scored. No other runners advanced. E. Benitz stroked a single to right to load the bases. An infield pop-up and a grounder to short ended the rally. Content's team wins the inning.
AC Plum pitched next for the home squad. Bottom of sixth up 4-3 with a runner @1B and no outs.
Plum struck out the first batter. Walked Q. Martin. A line drive to first doubled off Martin to end the inning. Plum's team gets the win.
In his second inning for the home team, the situation was the top of the sixth with a 2-0 lead and runners on first and third and no outs. The first out was a pop-up. T. Cruz doubled to center. Tthe inherited runners each scored. Cruz stole third. A short fly to left and a strikeout ended that frame. Plum's team lost that inning.
M. Santos pitched the next two situations for the home squad.
Situation 1 was bottom of 6th with no outs and runners at the corners with a 5-3 lead.
Situation 2 was bottom of 6th up 4-3 no outs and a runner on first and third.
Santos won the first situation. The inherited runner on first stole second. He took third on a deep fly to center by C. Edwards. Then scored on a ground out to first base. A strikeout followed.
In the second situation, R. Duluc grounded out second to first. Runner on third scored. There was another fielder's choice grounder and a fly out to end the inning. The pitching failed to hold the lead and lost.
Zaskoda pitched the Situation 1 as bottom of 6th with no outs and runners at the corners with a 5-3 lead.
The inherited runner at first stole second. The runner on third was out at home on a grounder to third. The runner at second took third on the play. A. Cruz walked. Gneiting hit a sac-fly to right to score the runner now on third. A fly out ended the inning. Zaskoda's team wins as they held the lead.
Zaskoda lost the second situation. Cienfuegos walked. Runner to second. Hannigan singled to right. The runner on second scored. Cienfuegos to third base. T. Cruz walked. T. Cruz and Cienfuegos executed a double steal with Cienfuegos scoring on the play. Two outs followed.
E. Benitez pitched two innings for home team.
First situation is top of 5th inning with a 6-3 lead with no outs and bases loaded.
A. Beaulaurier tripled to right. Three inherited runners scored. C. Edwards hit sac-fly to left to score Beaulaurier.
A ground out to first and a strikeout followed. Benitez's team lost that situation.
Second situation is bottom of 7th with a 5-4 lead and runners at second and third and one out.
R. Duluc drove home the runner on third with a fielder's choice to short that got the runner going to third base.
Duluc stole second. Bulman singled Duluc to third. A grounder to third forced the runner going to second. Benitez's team wins the inning.
C. Cienfuegos pitched the same situations for the visitors.
In the first situation, J. Collins singled to right to drive home the lead runner. A strikeout followed. I lost an out in here and a runner. B. Gneiting walked to load the bases. A double play grounder forced the runner at this and the throw to first ended the inning. Ceinfuegos' team wins the frame.
In the second situation, C. Hannigan walked with one out. A runner scored on a wild pitch. A runner was tagged out between home and third. The inning ended on a ground out. Ceinfuegos' team wins again.
J. Conlon pitched the final Situation. Top of 7th with 2 outs and runners on the corners with a 5-4 lead.
Conlon got the first batter he faced to ground out. His team wins the situation. Coach let him face one more batter. D. Hernandez walked with no impact on the result as the inning was over.

October 9, 2019 - Scrimmage #5
On a pleasant afternoon the squad scrimmage to get three pitchers some extended work.
Each of the three pitchers pitched in three innings for a total of nine innings. Five of the innings recorded three outs. Four innings were stopped before three outs were reached.
My scorecard recorded thirteen runs scored The offense received twenty-eight points via Coach's scoring method.
C. Cienfuegos pitched three complete innings. He gave up one unearned run in his first inning. He retired the side in the other two innings, He allowed one hit, one BB and one HBP.
A. C. Plum pitched in three innings He gave up 8 earned runs and 1 unearned run, 7 hits,1 SO, 6 BB and 2 HBP.
E. Benitez pitched the final three innings. Benitez was able to get three outs in his first two innings. In the final frame he had retired two of the four batters he faced before the scrimmage was halted. His line was 3 ER, 5 H, 2 SO, and 2 BB.

A nice breeze and decent cloud cover provided a pleasant after for thee quick innings of fall baseball.
B. Deskins and G. Zaskoda each pitched 3 innings today.
Deskins pitched for the home squad. His pitching line showed 2.2 innings, 2 ER, 2 hits and 3 BB. He was charged with 3 points by the coach's scoring method.
Zaskoda pitched for the visitors. His line showed 2.2 innings, 1 ER, 1 hit, 4 BB, 1 HBP, and 3 SO. Coach's scoring showed him being charged with 5 points.

Today was a beautiful afternoon for the first big 5 scrimmages to win the Fall Ball Cup. Today Gray won 6-3 in 7 innings.

October 25, 2019
On a cool cloudy fall afternoon, the Blue squad beat Gray 9-5 in 5 innings today.
Gray took the early lead against A.C. Plum with 2 unearned runs in the first. After a dropped foul pop-up, B. Comeaux and T. Cruz each walked. An RBI single to left by T. LaRue scored Comeaux. B. Gneiting walked. The first out was a pop-up. E. Benitez drove home T. Cruz with a groundout to the right side. A pop-up ended the inning.
M. Santos pitched two scoreless innings for Gray. The second inning ended on a great 4-6-3 double play.
In the third, C. Cienfuegos reached on a bunt single to third. C. Hannigan walked. C. Edwards drove a homer over the left-centerfield wall to score three runs. D. Hernandez walked. J. Collins doubles to left.
A. Bulman singles to center to score Hernandez and Collins.
R. Rickett relieved Santos. After a SO, A. Cruz singles through the right side of the infield to score Bulman who had stolen second and third bases. A fly to center was caught. Cruz was out trying to advance to end the inning.
G. Zaskoda relieved Plum for Blue. With one out, E. Benitez reached on an infield single. Comeaux followed with a double to left. T. Cruz walked to load the bases. LaRue hit a sac-fly to center that scored Benitez. Zaskoda struck out the next batter to end the inning.
Blue scored three runs in the fourth off Rickett. After a pop-up, Hannigan walked. The second out was a fly to center. Hernandez and Collins each walked to load the bases. Bulman delivered another 2 out 2 run RBI. A strikeout ended the rally.
Zaskoda held Gray scoreless in the fourth after Q. Martin doubled to deep center and Comeaux walked. Zaskoda retired the next three batters on a soft fly to center, strikeout and an infield grounder.
Rickett pitched a scoreless fifth inning. A. Cruz walked to open the inning. A fly to center was the first out. Cienfuegos walked. Cruz to second. A grounder to third forced Cruz and the throw to first completed the double play to end the inning.
Blue attempted a late rally in the bottom of the fifth against Zaskoda. With one out, R. Duluc was HBP. Duluc took second on a wild pitch. A third to first infield groundout was the second out. T. Cruz doubled to left. Duluc scored. LaRue singled to left. Cruz scored the final run of the day. An infield pop-up ended the scrimmage.
Next scrimmage is scheduled for a Tuesday.

On a very chilly Halloween evening, Blue won the deciding game of the Fall Ball series 13-9 in 8 1/2 innings. Blue takes the series 2-1.
