November 10, 2015 - Gray 7, Blue 2
In the final fall ball scrimmage of 2015, Blue was leading 2-1 going to the ninth inning. Gray erupted for 6 runs in the top of the ninth to claim the victory.
The first three Blue pitchers held Gray to a solitary run through 8 innings.
Gray scored in the first against Austin Solecitto. Grayson Lewis had a lead-off double to center. Lewis took third on a come-backer to Solecitto. Myers drove home Lewis on a botched fielder's choice grounder. Myers was picked off first. Connor Teykl singled to right. Solecitto struck-out the final batter of the first.
Solecitto walked two in the second. No runs scored. He pitched a perfect third.
Jackson Parthasarathy and Brent Schwarz followed. Neither pitcher allowed a run.
For Gray, Zach Esquivel pitched 3 innings of no hit no run ball.
He was followed by Evan Kravitz who allowed 2 runs in the fifth inning. With one out in the fifth, Dayne Wunderlich singled. Charlie Warren followed with another single.
Dom DiCaprio singled Wunderlich home. Warren to third. Blake Fox drove home Warren on a fielder's choice. A line drive to first ended the frame. Dane Myers pitched two shut-out innings.
After 8, it was 2-1 Blue.
Ben Schragger relieved for Blue. His sidearm delivery had kept the offense off balance for most of the fall. Not Tuesday evening. Gray got three hits and three walks. Blue made some fielding miscues and Gray scored six runs.
The final was Gray 7, Blue 2.

November 9, 2015 - Gray 4, Blue 2
An absolutely perfect November afternoon and evening for baseball at the Reck.
Gray rallied from an early 2-0 hole to claim a 4-2 win today.
Glenn Otto opened for Blue. He pitched four shut-out innings holding Gray to back-to-back two-out singles by Gavin Johnson and Chad Tatum in the second inning. Rodrigo Duluc followed with a four pitch walk to load the bases. A deep fly to center ended the frame. Otto retired six of the final seven batters. The only runner reached on an infield error. His line for the day was 4 innings, 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 walk, and 6 strike-outs.
Jon Duplantier pitched the first three innings for Gray. He pitched to three batters in the first and third innings. In the second inning, Blue opened with four straight singles.
Connor Teykl dropped a Texas leaguer into center. Dom DiCaprio followed with a single through the right side. Ford Proctor reached on a single off the second-baseman's glove. Teykl scored. Braden Rollins singled up-the-middle to score DiCaprio.
Duplantier then retired the next batter on a strike-out and the final two batters on ground outs to third. Teykl added another single in the third. Duplantier's line was 3 innings, 2 runs, 2 earned runs, 5 hits, 1 walk, and 3 strike-outs.
Josh Pettitte relieved for Gray in the fourth. Ford Proctor lead-off with a single to left. Pettitte then retired the next eleven batters before Cody Staab singled to center. Pettitte struck out the final batter he faced. Josh's line was 4 innings of work.
He allowed no runs, 2 hits, and struck-out four.
Nick Orewiler relieved Otto in the fifth for Blue. Orewiler walked Dayne Wunderlich and Charlie Warren to open the fifth. He struck out the next batter for the first out of the inning. Blake Fox singled to center. Wunderlich scored. Warren to second.
Kendal Jefferies dropped a single between the second baseman and the right fielder to load the bases. A pick-off throw to third went wild sending Warren home for the final run of the fifth. In the sixth, Wunderlich walked with one out. He was forced on a fielder's choice grounder to first. Warren safe at first. Andrew Dunlap singled to left. Warren was out trying to reach third. Inning over.
Orewiler continued to pitch into the seventh. After two quick outs, Gavin Johnson, Chad Tatum and Duluc walked to load the bases for Wunderlich. Dayne sent a single to right that scored Johnson and Tatum. The inning was called for pitch count.
Orewiler went 2.2 innings. He allowed 4 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned runs. He had 3 strikeouts and walked six.
Ben Schragger pitched the eighth for Blue. He pitched one inning. He allowed no runs or hits. He walked one and struck out one.
All hits today were singles.
Another scrimmage tomorrow.
November 4, 2015 - Blue 6, Gray 5
Blue rallied from a 5-2 deficit to win 6-5 in eight innings today. Much like yesterday, the pitchers had good stuff as they struck-out 15. However once again they issued double digit free passes (12 BB and 1 HBP).
Jackson Parthasarathy started for Blue and pitched two innings. Austin Solecitto started for Gray going 2.1 innings.
Blue opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. Dayne Wunderlich and Charlie Warren each walked to open the frame. A potential double-play grounder was bobbled. All hands safe. Bases loaded. Connor Teykl would drive home the runner on third with an infield grounder to second. Gray turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the first.
Gray tied it up in the top of the second. With one, Cody Staab singled to right. He stole second. After a fly ball out, Rodrigo Duluc singled to right . Staab scored.
Blue failed to score in the second.
Brent Schwarz relieved Parthasarathy in the third. Ford Proctor opened the inning with a double to center. He advanced to third on a wild pitch. With one out, Blake Fox drove Proctor home with a fielder's choice ground-out second to first. A strike-out ended the rally.
Blue tied the game against Solecitto on Warren's lead-off single. Dane Myers walked. Warren and Myers each stole a base. A strike-out was the second out. Gavin Johnson singled Warren home. The inning ended as Solecitto reached his pitch limit.
After 3 innings, it was tied 2-2.
Gray failed to score in the fourth.
Zach Esquivel relieved for Gray in the fourth. Blue did not score.
In the fifth, Gray tallied three runs against reliever Kendal Jefferies. With one out, Proctor walked. Dom DiCaprio singled to right. Proctor to second. Blake Fox hit an RBI single to right. Proctor scored. DiCaprio moved to third. A wild pitch scored DiCaprio. Fox took second.
Andrew Dunlap walked. Cody Staab got his second hit of the scrimmage that scored Fox. Dunlap to second. A strike-out followed for the second out. Dunlap was caught in attempt to steal third.
Blue rallied to tie it up in the bottom of the fifth. With Esquivel still pitching, Warren led-off with a walk. Myers drove a ball to the warning track that the right-fielder dropped for a two base error. The runners were at second and third. Teykl hit a sac-fly to left that scored Warren.
Jefferies walked. Gavin Johnson doubled to left. Myers and Jefferies scored. Two outs ended the fifth. After five, the score was 5-5. Jefferies held Gray scoreless in the sixth. Blue took the lead in the bottom of the inning. Wunderlich doubled to start the inning. Warren singled to left. Wunderlich to third. Teykl got his third RBI of the day with another sac-fly to left. A fielder's choice and a comeback grounder ended the stanza. After 6, it was Bale up 6-5.
Final was Blue 6 Gray 5.

It should be noted that Andrew Dunlap made two nice sliding catches in left. Grayson Lewis fought off a bad hop grounder to make a stop.. He had to hurry the throw to first that Blake Fox dug out of the dirt. Nice play by each player.
November 3, 2015 - Blue 3, Gray 0
With the weekend behind us, the perfect weather has returned
The Blue threesome of Jon Duplantier, Glenn Otto and Nick Orewiler combined to toss a three hit eight inning shutout against the Gray squad.
The Gray pitchers allowed only one earned run but it wasn't enough.
Blue scored one unearned in the first off Blake Fox. Grayson Lewis opened the frame with a single to left. Ford Proctor hit a line-drive to left that was dropped. After a fly out to center, Connor Teykl grounded to first base. Proctor was forced at second. Lewis went to third. The return throw to first was wild. Lewis scored and Teykl took second. An infield pop-out ended the inning.
Blue added two more runs in the fifth off Josh Pettitte. Teykl led off with a ground rule double down the left-field line. Dom DiCaprio singled to center. Teykl to third. Andrew Dunlap ripped the first pitch he saw into center to score Teykl. DiCaprio to second. A strikeout on a wild pitch was the first out. DiCaprio and Dunlap each moved up a base. Cody Staab hit a fly to short center for the second out. The throw home was wild allowing DiCaprio to score after having held up at third. Dunlap took third. The inning ended on a strike-out.

With a perfect day of weather gracing the squads today, Blue rallied from 3 runs down in the bottom of the sixth to salvage a 3-3 tie today.
Zach Esquivel and Austin Solecitto started for Blue and Gray squads, respectively.
Each pitched matched the other with two straight shut-out innings.
With one out in the third inning, Andrew Dunlap launched a shot into the left-field power alley that landed on top of the hill beyond the outfield fence.
Esquivel completed his three innings as he allowed 2 H, 1 R, 4 SO, and 1 BB.
Solecitto completed his three innings of shut-out ball with 3 H, 0 R, and 2 SO and 1 HBP.
Ben Schwarz relieved for Blue and retired the side in order in the fourth.

October 26, 2015 - Blue 5, Gray 4 Blue tallied four runs in the second inning and added one more on Braden Rollins home run to lead-off the fourth and held on to win today's scrimmage by a score of 5-4. It was a mixed bag of hitting and pitching. There were 17 hits. Rodrigo Duluc led the way with 3 hits (2 singles and a triple). Blake Fox had a single and a double. Danye Wunderlich had two singles.

The pitchers racked up 18 strike-outs including five each by Josh Pettitte and Nick Orewiler. Glenn Otto had four. The other four pitchers (Jon Duplantier, Ben Schragger, Blake Fox and Braden Rollins) had one strike-out each.
Gray scored one run off Fox in the first. Blue answered with four off Duplantier in the second (3 ER).
Gray scored one in the top of the fourth off Orewiler. Rollins hit his HR off Otto in the bottom of the fourth.
Gray scored another run off Orewiler in the sixth and another run in the seventh off Rollins.
Another scrimmage is planned for tomorrow.
October 23, 2015 - Gray 1, Blue 0
It was a quick and efficient four inning scrimmage today. The rain once again held off and allowed Gray to post a 1-0 win in four innings.
Kendal Jefferies was the winning pitcher. He also scored the only run of the game. With two outs in the top of the third, Jefferies laid down a perfect bunt toward third. He easily beat the throw to first. He then stole second and raced home on the over throw to second in an attempt to pick him off. Three straight walk followed before the inning ended on a fly to center.
Jefferies and Ben Schragger each pitched two scoreless innings for Gray.
Evan Kravetz gave up the one run in his three innings of work. Dane Myers pitched one shut-out inning for Blue.

October 20, 2015 - Gray 3, Blue 1
The weather held and the pitching improved as Gray won 3-1 in a full 9 inning scrimmage today.
Each team used 5 pitchers. All ten pitchers pitched their allotted innings.
Dane Myers pitched one shutout inning for Blue. Glenn Otto followed with two more shutout innings.
Meanwhile the Gray pitcher's matched the Blue team with two shutout innings from Jon Duplantier and 2 more from Josh Pettitte.
Gray broke through against Austin Solecitto to score two runs after two outs. Connor Teykl worked a walk. Dominic DiCaprio doubled to center scoring Teykl. Cody Staab followed with a triple to the right-field corner that sent DiCaprio home. A strike-out ended the fourth. Solecitto pitched a 1-2-3 fifth. Zach Esquivel pitched two scoreless innings.
Nick Orewiler followed Solecitto to the mound for Blue and pitched a perfect sixth and issued a one out walk in the seventh but closed the frame on a strike-out and a fly to left.
Blue tallied one in the seventh against Jackson Parthasarathy. With one out, Brandt Frazier singled to left. After a center-field fly out, Braden Rollins walked. Charlie Warren singled to center to drive home Frazier. Warren was thrown out in an attempt to reach second. That ended the inning.
Gray answered with a run in the eight off Ben Schwarz. Grayson Lewis tripled to deep center. He scored on Ford Proctor's sac-fly to center. Dayne Wunderlich singled up the middle. he stole second and reached third on a throwing error. He was stranded after a strike-out and fly out.
In the eighth, Parthasarathy retired the side in order.
Schwarz retired three of four batters in the ninth. One runner reached on an infield error.
Ben Schragger closed for Gray. He retired the side on two straight come-backers and a ground out to third.

The weather continues to stay late summer-like allowing for great fall ball scrimmages. Today, the pitchers were once again the story. Blue scored twice in the fourth and held on for a 2-1 win in six innings.
Blake Fox and Dane Myers made their first appearances as pitchers today. Each went an inning. Jon Duplantier made his third appearance going a little over one inning. Other pitchers today were Kendal Jefferies and Evan Kravetz for Gray. Austin Solecitto and Ben Schragger also pitched for Blue.
In his one inning of work, Fox allowed a single to Gavin Johnson with one out. He got a strike-out for the second out. Charlie Warren walked. Fox retired the side on a pop-up to third.
Jon Duplantier walked one and struck-out one in his first inning of work. He pitched twelve more pitchers in the second . Fox singled to left and Myers walked. Duplantier had reached his pitch limit.
Austin Solecitto pitched the second and third innings for Blue. Solecitto pitched a perfect second inning. After he walked Kendal Jefferies to start the third, he picked Jefferies on first. Two fly outs ended his day.
Kendal Jefferies pitched a perfect inning in the bottom of the fourth for Gray.
After three innings, it was zero-zero.
Dane Myers pitched the fourth for Blue. He retired the side on seven pitches. Two ground-outs to second-base sandwiched a pop-up to short.
Jefferies continued to pitch for Gray. Cody Staab singled to center. Staab stole second. Hunter Kopycinski grounded to short. Staab was safe on the fielder's choice. Hunter reached first. Hunter stole second. Connor Teykl scored Staab on a sac-fly to left. Another fly to left was the second out. Fox laced a double over the third baseman's head down the left-field line to score Hunter. A line drive was caught in center for the final out of the inning.
After four, Blue was up 2-0.
Ben Schragger pitched the fifth and sixth innings for Blue.
In the fifth, Andrew Dunlap reached on a bad hop single to second. Josh Pettitte followed with an infield single to third. A grounder to third forced Dunlap. Pettitte to second. Braden Rollins reached first.
Schragger struck-out the next batter. Grayson Lewis singled to center. Pettitte scored. Rollins moved to third and Lewis took second on the throw. Gavin Johnson walked to load the bases. A fly to right ended the rally.
Schragger picked a perfect sixth.
Evan Kravetz pitched the fifth and sixth for Gray. Kravetz retired all six batters.

Summer continues to hang around for Fall Ball.
Josh Pettitte made his first start as a pitcher today. Dane Myers made his first start at third base.
Blue rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to claim a 3-1 victory today.
Josh Pettitte started for Blue. After Cody Staab singled to center and stole second, Josh settled in to strike out the next two batters and get the third out on a fly to center.
Glenn Otto pitched for the second time this fall. Otto struck-out the lead-off man. He walked Ford Proctor. Dominic DiCaprio doubled to right. Proctor took third. Connor Teykl lifted a fly-out to left. Andrew Dunlap played the ball well and held the runner at third. Otto recorded a strike-out for the third out.
That was it for each of the starters.
Ben Schwarz relieved for Blue. In the second, Andrew Dunlap reached on a one-out single. He advanced to second on a balk. A fly to right and a ground-out to third ended the frame.
Jackson Parthasarathy relieved for Gray. He pitched a scoreless second inning.
In the third, Gray scored once off Schwarz. Chad Tatum drilled the first pitch of the inning down the left-field line for a lead-off double. Tatum moved to third on an unassisted ground-out to first. Kendall Jefferies singled home Tatum. Warren bunted Jefferies to second. A fly-out ended the stanza.
Nick Orewiler came into to pitch for Gary. He pitched a scoreless third. Josh Pettitte singled for the only base-runner of the inning. All outs were infield grounders.
After three, it was Gray 1, Blue 0.
Schwarz pitched a perfect fourth as he finished his turn with two strike-outs.
In the fourth, Orewiler gave up two unearned runs as DiCaprio reached second on an infield throwing error. Teykl's double to left-center scored DiCaprio. Two walks followed. Orewiler got a strike-out for the first out of the inning. Teykl scored on a sac-fly to right by Brandt Frazier. The inning ended on a fielder's choice grounder to short.
It was 2-1 Blue after four innings.
Zach Esquivel pitched two scoreless innings for Blue. He walked one in each inning.
Nick Orewiler gave up a lead-off HR to Grayson Lewis in the fifth. Proctor followed with a single to center. DiCaprio was HBP. A grounder to short resulted in an infield double play. Inning called on pitch count.
Esquivel pitched the sixth for Gray and retired the side in order.

In the fifth, Rodrigo Duluc singled through the left-side to lead-off. Lewis singled to center. An outfield out preceded a walk to Hunter Kopycinski. The walk loaded the bases. Chuck Warren forced Hunter at second. Duluc scored. Lewis to third. Warren stole second.
Lewis scored and Warren reached third on a wild pitch. Frazier walked. Dunlap reached on an infield single. Warren scored. Frazier was out at third as he tried to get the extra base. Three runs scored.
Evan Kravetz relieved for Gray. After two quick out, Evan walked Josh Pettitte and Chad Tatum. Braden Rollins ripped a 3-0 pitch to deep center driving home Pettitte and Tatum. Rollins was thrown out in attempt to turn the double into a triple.
After 5 innings, Gray was up 5-3.
Ben Scrhagger relieved for Blue in the sixth. He would pitch the sixth and seventh innings. Gray scored one run as Blake Fox singled to short. After a strike-out, Fox moved to second on an infield grounder to third. Ford Proctor singled to right. Fox scored. Proctor stole second. Kopycinski walked. Warren was HBP. A fielder's choice ended the inning.
Kravetz was perfect in the sixth.
In the seventh, Gray added another run. Dunlap singled to left. Fox followed with a single to right. Dunlap to second. Fox was forced at second on a fielder's choice. Duluc reached first. Lewis forced Duluc at second a 6-4 force. Lewis was caught stealing to end the top of the seventh.
Kravetz pitched another 1-2-3 inning to end the scrimmage.

The two teams did combine to hit for the cycle. Gray pitchers each allowed only one hit.

Dominic DiCaprio drove a hard single to right-center scoring Lewis. Proctor went to third. A grounder back to the pitcher forced DiCaprio at second. Proctor was out at the plate on the throw from short to the catcher. Two outs with Charlie Warren on first. Warren stole second. A fly to right ended the first. Zach Esquivel started for Gray and retired the side in order in the first. Gray 1, Blue 0 after 1 inning. Gray scored two more runs off Orewiler in the second. With one out, Brandt Frazier walked. Braden Rollins reached on an infield hit. A fly ball to right advanced each runner. A wild pitch scored Frazier and moved Rollins to third. Proctor drew his second walk. DiCaprio rapped another single to right-center that scored Rollins. Proctor to third. A pop-foul ended the inning. Esquivel tossed another 1-2-3 inning. 3-0 Gray after 2 innings. Brent Schwarz relieved for Blue. Schwarz pitched a scoreless third. It wasn't easy however. Schwarz walked three and hit one. He struck-out one after the first walk. Blake Fox drove home Warren with a single up-the-middle. Two outs were made on flies to right.
Jackson Parthasarathy relieved for Gray in the fourth and pitched the final three innings.
In the fourth, Blue scored its lone run of the day. After a called third strike, Kendal Jefferies singled to left. Jefferies stole second. A pop-out to left was the second out. Hunter Kopycinski then drove a ball to deep center for his first hit of the fall. Jefferies scored. Another called third strike ended the inning.
After 4 innings, Gray had stretched the lead to 5-1.
Schwarz concluded his day in the firth. Lewis had a lead-off single. Two ground outs pushed Lewis to third. A fly out to center ended the top of the fifth.
Parthasarathy allowed a two out double to Wunderlich. A fly out to left ended the inng.
Still 5-1 after 5 innings.
Glenn Otto made his initial appearance of the fall in the top of the sixth. A fly out to center was followed by a come-backer. With two outs, Frazier walked. A 6-4 fielder's choice force ended the stanza.
Parthasarathy allowed a single by Jefferies. A deep fly to center was caught. Jefferies had rounded second and returned to first without touching second on his return. He was called out on appeal. Kopycinski follwed with his second hit. A grounder to second eneded the scrimmage.
Gray won 5-1.

The weather continued to be magnificent. Today the pitching and fielding matched the weather. Gray nosed out the Blue squad 2-1 in 6 1/2 innings.
Austin Solecitto started for Blue and pitched the first two innings. After Solecitto struck-out the lead-off batter, Connor Teykl walked. Teykl reached second on a passed ball. He then advanced to third on a fielder's choice ground-out to short. Teykl scored on a wild pitch. A line drive to left ended the inning.
Jon Duplantier pitched for the first time this fall. He pitched just one inning. Grayson Lewis led off with a single to right. Lewis was picked-off first. Ford Proctor walked. Dom DiCaprio also singled to right, Proctor to second. Charlie Warren hit a grounder up yhr middle that Chad Tatum made a diving stop on to prevent the run from scoring. A pop-out and strikeout ended the first.
After one, it was 1-0 Gray.
Solecitto walked Blake Fox (or maybe he hit him with ball four) and then walked Chad Tatum. Solecitto struck-out the next batter. Dayne Wunderlich singled to center to load the bases. Teykl scored Fox from third on a sac-fly to right. Tatum moved to third. Wunderlich was picked off first for the third out.
Evan Kravetz relieved for Gray in the bottom of the second. He would pitch three innings. Cody Staab walked to lead-off. Staab was caught stealing. A fly to center was the second out. Lewis was HBP. Ford Proctor doubled Lewis home. DiCaprio walked. The inning ended on a fly to center.
After 2 innings, it was Gray 2 Blue.
Kendal Jefferies pitched the next three innings for Blue. He retired the first 7 batters he faced before Teykl singled to center. Two ground-outs ended his day. He had 7 ground ball outs, one strikeout and one fly out.
Kravetz continued for Gray. In the third, Brandt Frazier led-off with a single to right. A fielder's choice grounder forced Frazier at second. The inning ended on a 4-6-3 double play.
In the fourth, Jefferies opened the inning with a single to left. He was picked-off in attempt to take second. Two called strike-outs ended the fourth and the day for Kravetz.
Ben Schragger pitched the last two innings (the 6th and 7th) for Blue. Schragger was perfect in his two innings. He struck-out two and had four ground-outs to short.
Austin Kubitza pitched the 5th and 6th innings for Gray. He retired the first five batters on two infield grounders and three Ks. Jefferies hit a sharp grounder down the left field line and hustled to reach second base. A come-backer ended the bottom of the sixth.

The perfect fall day for a Rice Owl's fall ball scrimmage. Blue battled back twice to take a 7-6 win today.
The weather was a lot prettier than the baseball but it did have its moments.
Zach Esquivel started for Blue. He pitched the first three innings.
In the first, Lewis reached on a walk. Proctor dropped a singled into short left. A wild pitched put the runners on 2nd and 3rd. Two sac-flies to center scored the two runners. Fox singled and Frazier was HBP. They were stranded on an outfield fly.
Nick Orewiler pitched the first tow innings for Gray.
Blue rallied for three runs. With one out, Dunlap reached on an infield single. Johnson walked. DiCaprio doubled to RF. Dunlap scored Johnson to third. Teykl singled home Johnson. An outfield throwing error allowed DiCaprio to score Teykl to second. A pop-up and a fly out to center ended the frame.
Blue up 3-2.
With one out, Lewis singled for Gray. A line drive to first was turned into a double play to end the inning.
Blue played add-on in the second. Tatum reached on an infield error. He stole second. Wunderlich doubled Tatum home. A wild pitch sent him to third. A SO followed. Wunderlich attempted to score as the ball got by the catcher. He was out catcher to pitcher covering.
Johnson walked and DiCaprio singled. Inning ended on pitch count.
Blue increased their lead to 4-2 after 2.
Esquivel had a limit of 10 pitched in the third. Warren blooped a single to left. He stole second and took third on a fielder's choice grounder to second. Kopycinski drove him home with his second sac-fly to center. Inning over.
Ben Schwarz relieved Orewiler in the third and pitched the next three innings.
Blue made three straight ground-outs to second base for a quick inning for Schwarz.
Blue 4 Gray 3 after most of 3 innings.
Jackson Parthasarathy relieved and pitched the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings for Blue.
Pettitte was the only base-runner for gray. He reached on an infield single and stole second. . He was stranded.
Blue went scoreless in the fourth. Tatum singled but was erased on a 6-4-3 DP. Dunlap was HBP. Johnson reached on an infield error. Dicaprio walked to load the bases. A fly to the outfield left the bases loaded.
Still 4-3 Blue.
In the fifth, Gray rallied as Proctor reached second on a dropped fly ball. A pop-out to short followed. Warren singled up-the-middle (hereafter UTM). Proctor scored. Warren out on attempt to take second. Fox walked, Frazier was HBP again. Two runners advanced on a wild pitch.
Pettitte reached on another infield single. Fox scored. Frazier to third. Rollins singled UTM. Frazier scored. Infield ground-out ended the inning. Gray had taken a 6-4 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Staab singled to center with one out. A pop-up was the second out. Wunderlich HBP. Dunlap, giving us his best impersonation of the Astro's Gattis, tripled to deep center. Staab and Wunderlich scored to tie the game. Johnson then singled Dunlap home for the lead. Inning over.
Parthasarathy retired Gray in order.
Blue wins 7-6.
I left for soccer where Rice won 4-2.
No scrimmage tomorrow.
September 29, 2015 - Gray 6, Blue 1
After an hour rain and lightning delay, the second fall ball scrimmage got underway just after 5:30 PM.
The Gray line-up was G. Lewis @ 2b, C. Warren in CF, D. DiCaprio @ C, F. Proctor @ SS, B. Frazier in RF, G. Johnson @ 3b, B. Rollins in LF, B. Fox @ 1b, and K. Jefferies as SP and DH. E. Kravetz as RP.
The Blue line-up consisted of D. Wunderlich in CF, C. Staab in RF, H. Kopycinski @ C, C. Teykl @ SS, J. Pettitte @ 1b, A. Dunlap in LF, R. Duluc @ 3rd, C. Tatum @ 2b, A. Solecitto SP and B. Schragger as RP.
In the first inning for Gray, Lewis walked. Warren singled to SS. DiCaprio walked to load the bases. Proctor got an RBI when he was HBP. Frazier drove home the second run with a sac-fly to right-field. Johnson walked to reload the bases.
Solecitto struck out the next batter and ended the inning on a fly to right.
Rollins retired Blue in order on a fly to right, a ground-out to third, and another fly to right.
In the second, Jefferies singled to center for Gray. A fly to center was the first out. A strikeout followed for the second out. DiCaprio followed with a solid single to left. The inning was called on pitch count.
In the bottom of the second, Blue mounted a rally after two outs. Dunlap walked. Duluc singled to left. Dunlap to second. Tatum walked to load the bases for Wunderlich. Dayne hit a ball to deep third. with no play at first Duluc beat the third baseman to the bag to plate Dunlap. Jefferies struck-out the next batter to end the second inning.

Schragger took over for Gray in the top of the third. Ford Proctor ripped a 2-0 pitch over the right-field wall for the first HR of the fall. A pop foul was caught on a great play by Josh Pettittie in front of the first base dugout steps.. Johnson drew his second walk of the evening. Rollins doubled to right center-field. Johnson was out at the plate 9-4-2. A fly to center ended the top of the third.
In the bottom of the third, Evan Kravetz relieved for Gray. After a ground-out to third, Teykl reached on an infield single off the second base bag. Gray turned a 6-4-3 double play to end the third.
Kravetz would strike-out two with a ground-out to second sandwiched between for a perfect fourth.
Austin Kubitz was visiting today before going to the fall league in Arizona. He asked for a chance to pitch to get ready. WG was happy to oblige.
In the top of the fourth, Austin struck out the lead-off man. The ball was in the dirt and the throw to first allowed the runner to reach bae. As the base got past first the runner attempted to go to second but was thrown out. The next batter struck-out but reached on a passed ball. DiCaprio grounded to third.The throw to first was in the dirt and bounced away. An errant throw to third allowed the lead runner to score. DiCaprio moved to second. Proctor walked. Austin got his third strike-out of the inning for the second out. Johnson hit a shot to left-center that scored DiCaprio and Proctor. The fourth strike-out of the inning ended the top of the fourth. Three unearned runs had scored.
In the fifth, Austin got the lead-off man for his fifth strike-out. Lewis ripped a solid single through the right-side of the infield. Warren forced Lewis at second on a fielder's choice. Warren stole second base. DiCaprio battled Austin before he hit a hard ground-out to short that ended the scrimmage.
Final score was Gray 6, Blue 1 in 4 1/2 innings.

Orewiler struck out the next batter and the inning ended on a line drive fly to center. With two out in the second, Blue got back-to-back singles from Brandt Frazier and newcomer Braden Rollins. A fielder's choice grounder forced Rollins at second to end the frame. It was 0-0 after two innings.

DH Braden Rollins drove home Fox with a ground-out to second. Frazier took third. Grayson Lewis singled to center. Frazier scored. With one ball on Charlie Warren, the game was called due to rain.
