Seven Lakes Spartans (Thanks, Sten Gustafson '89!):
As previously reported, on Thursday at 7 pm, the Fort Bend Ridge Point Panthers will face the Katy Seven Lakes Spartans in the 6A Division I bi-district playoffs at Hall Stadium in Missouri City.
The Ridge Point quarterback is senior Bert Emanuel Jr, the son of Bert Emanuel ’94 who was a two-year baseball and football letterman (1992-93) at Rice. Also, junior DK Kalu, the son of four-year Rice football letterman ND Kalu ’97 (1993-94-95-96) plays defensive tackle for the Panthers.
Senior Jonah Thigpen, the son of four-year Rice football letterman Jeremy Thigpen ’97 (1993-94-95-96), plays linebacker for the Spartans.
Owl teammates and classmates, ND was the starting Rush-DE and Jeremy was the starting center on the Rice team that defeated Texas, 19-17, on October 16, 1994.
