Beverly Baker (1931-2026):
On October 5, Beverly Baker passed away. A native Houstonian, she earned a BA in English from Rice in 1953 where “she distinguished herself through student government, campus leadership and numerous honors”. After graduation, she was an elementary school teacher until 1957 when she retired and started a family with her late husband Walter Baker ’54. Also, she was active in the community and in her church and they remained involved with Rice throughout their lifetimes. Her “life was characterized by strong faith, love of family, and service to friends and community”. She is predeceased by, among others, Walter (they were married in 1954 and he passed away in 2022).
