Herbert Simon s (1935-2026):
On August 19, Herbert Simons passed away. A native Houstonian, he earned a BA in Economics from Rice in 1957 and a JD from Harvard Law in 1960. He enjoyed “a long and distinguished career in law and was a nationally recognized expert in taxation” with Butler & Binion and Winstead. Also, he was a “noted genealogist and family historian”.
He “will be remembered for his kindness, wit, boundless energy, the breadth of his intellect, his successful professional career, his devotion to the institutions and community of Houston, and his lifelong interest in the history of his family and the families of early America.” He is predeceased by, among others, his longtime partner, Douglas Colin.
