Annette Bassett (1936-2026):
On August 10, Annette Bassett passed away. A native Texan, she earned a BA (’58) and a MA (’60) in English from Rice where she was a top ten senior in 1958, a Phi Beta Kappa member and inaugural Jones College president. In 1974, she earned a Master of Library Science from Long Island University and enjoyed a twenty-four year career in the Suffolk NY Cooperative Library System. Also, she loved to travel and to enjoy opera performances. She is predeceased by, among others, her husband Charles (they were married for thirty-seven years). Click here for the obituary.
