The Reverand James Abernathey (1935-2026):
On August 15, the Reverend James Abernathey passed away. Born in Kansas, he attended Rice (class of 1957) and earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from UT in 1958. After working in the engineering field for several years, he earned a Master of Divinity from the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in 1970, was ordained as an Episcopal priest and served faithfully for many years. Later in life, he earned a Master of Liberal Arts from Rice in 2016. He is predeceased by, among others, his wife JoAnn Jamison. Click here for the obituary.
