Lawrence Westerlund (1942-2026):
On May 27, Larry Westerlund passed away. Born in Wisconsin, he earned a BA in Physics in 1964 and a PhD in Space Physics & Astronomy in 1968 from Rice (Baker College). He enjoyed “a distinguished career as a space scientist in the communications satellite industry”. Also, he was a lifelong sailor. “He will be remembered for his quiet strength, gentle smile, steady presence, and deep love for those closest to him.” He is survived by, among others, his wife of sixty-one years, Beverly.
