Gerald Smith Jr. (1943-2026):
On May 21, Gerry Smith passed away after a very long battle with Alzheimer’s. A native Texan, he earned a BA from Rice (Baker College) in 1965 and a PhD from Florida State in 1969, both in Biology. He spent a scientific career teaching at the University of Toronto, Indiana University and other places. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, scuba diving and volunteering at the Zionsville (IND) Nature Center. He is survived by, among others, his wife of forty-two years, Therese.
