Maurice McGowen (1931-2026):
On April 17, Maurice McGowen passed away. A native Texan, he graduated from Rice in 1954. He had a long career in the financial services industry and he enjoyed tennis, playing pool and arm wrestling. “But what he cherished more than anything else was his family”. He is survived by, among others, his wife of nearly sixty-five years, Peggy, two daughters and four granddaughters including one, Emma Katherine Daly, who is a current Rice student.
He was very devoted to his alma mater. In 2024, the Maurice L McGowen ’54 Impact Fund was created at Rice.
