Nancy Mafrige (1937-2026):
On February 13, Nancy Mafrige passed away. Born in Oklahoma, she earned a BA in English from Rice in 1959 and a MA in English from UH in 1972. In addition to raising four children with her husband Don, she taught English at Lamar High School, UH and St. Thomas. Also, she loved playing tennis and golf and was active in the community including supporting Rice Women’s Athletics. “She was that rare combination of beauty, grace, and strength.” She is survived by, among others, Don (they were married for sixty-six years).
