Rice establishes new campus hub to tackle neurodegenerative diseases (Rice News)
Sam Haddon (1939-2025):
On November 26, Sam Haddon passed away. Born in Louisiana, he earned a BS in Physical Education from Rice in 1959 and a JD from the University of Montana in 1965. He enjoyed a private legal practice until 2001 when he was appointed to the federal bench (on a 95-0 confirmation vote in the US Senate). He served as a federal judge for twenty-two years. He “was known for meticulous preparation, high standards, and opinions marked by clarity and intellectual rigor”. He is predeceased by, among others, his wife Betty (they were married in 1959 and she passed away in 2020). Click here for the obituary.
