Elisa Garza-Leal (1968-2025):
On October 17, Elisa Garza-Leal passed away, “following a courageous four-year battle with breast cancer”. A native Texan, she earned a BA from Rice in 1991 and a MA from Penn State in 1997, both in English. A poet and a teacher, “she was passionate about social justice, mothering, and natural living, and her work was a beautiful reflection of her deep embrace of her culture”. She is survived by, among others, her husband, Luis E Leal. Click here for the obituary.
