Larissa "Lars" Charnsangavej:
On May 9, Larissa “Lars” Charnsangavej passed away at the age of 37, after having been diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma in November 2022.  She earned a BS in Bioengineering (with Phi Beta Kappa honors) from Rice in 2009 and a Master of Education from UCLA in 2013.  She “was a cornerstone of Brown College life” and she thrived overall at Rice.  She enjoyed a career in education through her work in Student Life at UCLA, Caltech and Berkeley.  She “was truly a gem, and she will be greatly missed by all who have had the joy of knowing her, both at Brown and beyond.”

The family has established the Larissa Charnsangavej Endowment for Brown College.  Also, the family is planning two celebrations of life, one in Houston and another in the Bay Area, with details to be announced later.
