Office of Academic Support for Undergraduate Students:
Rice launches new initiative (Rice News)

John Durham (1944-2025):
On March 10, John Durham Jr passed away.  A native Texan, he earned a BA in Anthropology from Rice in 1966 where he was editor of the Thresher and a Master of Arts from Stanford in 1967.  After military service, he enjoyed a career as a veteran newsman, university communications director and educator for forty years.  He retired in 2012, the same year that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s dementia.  He is survived by, among others, his wife of fifty-one years, Connie (they met at the Chronicle where they were both reporters).  He “leaves us with a reporter’s notebook and a pen in his back pocket, ready for the next big story”.
