Billy "Bill" Bonner (1939-2024):
On August 8, Bill Bonner passed away. A native Texan, he earned a BS from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1961 and a MA (1963) and a PhD (1965) in high-energy physics from Rice. After spending thirteen years as a Physicist at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and holding various appointments abroad, “he joined the Physics Department at Rice University where he spent the remainder of his career as Director of the TW Bonner Nuclear Laboratory from 1987-2009 and as Chairman of the Physics Department from 1986-1991. Bill was a beloved researcher and teacher of physics to the senior physics majors and physics graduate students.”
He is survived by, among others, his wife of thirty-five years, Margo. Click here for the obituary.
