The Chronicle and Texas Book Festival have partnered to host a summer book club to read ‘The Madstone’, an award-winning Western novel by Elizabeth Crook ’82, culminating in a live virtual event on Wednesday, July 17 at 11 am with the author. Click here to read more and/or to register.
Virginia Westmoreland (1930-2024):
On June 6, Virginia Westmoreland passed away. A native Houstonian, she earned an undergraduate degree in English from Rice in 1951 and a master’s degree from UH. Together with her late husband Jackson, they raised two sons. And she enjoyed a career as an education professional with HISD including serving as principal of Red Elementary.
