Helen Lanneua Eaker (1922-2024):
Dr. Helen Lanneau Eaker, who taught Classics (Latin and Greek) at Rice for many years, passed away on January 11 at the age of 101. Born in Natchez, Mississippi, Dr. Eaker received B.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is survived by, among others, her son Calvert Moore and his wife Janet and their sons James and Andrew. She is also survived by her great-nephew Bazile Lanneau III, who received a Ph.D. degree in linguistics from Rice in 2017. Click here for the obituary.
