Marty Belasco (1950-2021):
On December 5, Marty Belasco passed away "after a hard battle with cancer". A native Pennsylvanian, he earned a BA from Rice in 1972 and a master's degree in accounting from UH. At Rice, he was the Sports Editor of the Rice Thresher and one of his stories, in the April 13, 1972 edition, was entitled "Rice grabs three to clobber Horns".
He enjoyed a professional career as a partner and a tax advisor at David Miller and Company. Also, he was a "fantastic historian and avid sports enthusiast" including being a Rice Baseball season ticketholder for years. He is survived by, among others, his wife Fredell (they were married in 1973). Click here for the obituary.
