    According to a Pinstriped Prospects story, Glenn Otto is set to make his professional debut with SS Staten Island tonight.

    Brock Holt (.209) went 2-for-3 for Boston.  Paul Janish (.273) went 2-for-3 with a double for AAA Norfolk.

    The Thorpe Cup, an international track and field competition between USA and Germany, takes place in Dusseldorf this Saturday and Sunday, July 29-30.  For the second year in a row, Scott Filip is a member of the US roster.

    Edward Dillon (1926-2017):
    On May 22, Edward Dillon passed away.  A native of Indiana, he earned a BA and a Masters from the University of Illinois and pursued graduate studies at the University of Michigan and Rice (class of 1966).  After military service in WWII, he enjoyed a career spanning decades in the oil and gas business.  Also, he was active in the community.  He is survived by, among others, his wife Barbara.  Click here for the Midland Reporter-Telegram obituary.

    Trivia Answer:
    Rice football is undefeated against Alabama.  Besides the January 1, 1954 Cotton Bowl 28-6 win mentioned above, Rice also defeated Alabama 20-0 on September 24, 1955 and 20-13 on September 22, 1956.
