    Mike Tyler:
    On Saturday, Mike Tyler passed away.  Mike, Rodrigo Barnes and Stahle Vincent were the Owls’ first African-American football players.  Mike was a three-year standout at defensive back and earned All SWC honors.

    The memorial service will be on Saturday, April 5, at 10:30 am at Abundant Life Cathedral, 11230 Harwin.  Click here for the

    Today, Tony Cingrani (1-2, 3.22) is scheduled to start for Cincinnati at Pittsburgh.

    MLB Scoreboard Yesterday:
    Tyler Duffey (3-0, 2.82) allowed only 1 hit in 6 shutout innings to win for Hi-A Fort Myers.

    In the top of the 13th inning, Craig Manuel (.345) hit a 2-run homer as A Hagerstown defeated Augusta, 5-3.

    American Academy of Arts and Sciences:
    Spanos and Rosenthal elected to prestigious academy (Rice News)

    Wesley Blank (1936 - 2014):
    On April 17, Wesley Blank passed away.  A native Texan, he graduated from Rice with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1959.  He worked for the Ethyl Corporation for 32 years.  He is survived by, among others, his wife of 55 years, Paula.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
