    Austin Kubitza:
    Per JD’s latest blog entry, Austin Kubitza may receive consideration for a spot on the Team USA collegiate national team this summer.  As of now, he is listed on the preliminary roster of the Orleans Firebirds of the Cape Cod Baseball League.

    Preseason USA Today/ESPN College Baseball Poll:
    In its preseason Top 25 poll released on Friday, USA Today/ESPN ranked Rice as #7.  Also ranked were Florida (#1), South Carolina (#2), Stanford (#3), North Carolina (#4), Texas (#5), Texas A&M (#6) and  LSU (#14).

    Preseason PG All-Americans:
    Perfect Game released its preseason All-American teams on Friday.  As previously reported, Austin Kubitza was named to the second team.  Also, JT Chargois was named to the third team.

  • Other News (January 29, 2012)

    Clayton Henderson (1922 - 2012):
    On January 22, Clayton Henderson passed away. A native Texan, he attended Rice for one year on a track scholarship (class of 1944) and then volunteered for military service. He was an oilfield pumper, farmer and rancher and served as a county commissioner for 12 years. He placed third in horseshoes at the National Senior Olympics in Louisville KY at age 85.     Sharae Robinson     is current member of the Rice track and field team whose two older sisters also competed for Rice track and field.
