    Mike Tyler:
    On Saturday, Mike Tyler passed away.  Mike, Rodrigo Barnes and Stahle Vincent were the Owls’ first African-American football players.  Mike was a three-year standout at defensive back and earned All SWC honors.

    The memorial service will be on Saturday, April 5, at 10:30 am at Abundant Life Cathedral, 11230 Harwin.  Click here for the

    Garcia Marquez one of the most beautiful writers of the 20th century (Rice News)

    Ernest Carlson (1924 - 2014):
    On April 15, Ernest Carlson passed away.  A native Houstonian, he served in WWII and then graduated from Rice in 1950 where he was a two-year golf letterman.  He worked for Rheem Manufacturing for 30 years until he retired in 1983.  He enjoyed a long and fulfilling retirement.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
