Bobby May, who won the 110-meter NCAA high hurdle title in 1964 and graduated cum laude in 1965, was Rice Athletic Director from 1989 to 2006, the second-longest serving athletic director after Jess Neely.

Dr. HO Nicholas, a one-year Oberlin football letterman (1916) was Rice AD in 1934 (when the Owls won their first SWC football championship) as well as a Chemistry professor for 35 years.  His daughter Harriet and John, a three-year Rice baseball letterman (1954-55-56) have been married for almost 57 years.  Read more.
