Rice graduate student awarded real estate scholarship (CREW Houston)

Martha Ralph (1934 - 2012):
On August 5, Martha Ralph, the wife of Henry de Forest Ralph ’55/’56, passed away.  They were married for 58 years.  In 2000, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, which ultimately caused her death.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Dorothy Glauser (1918 - 2012):
On August 22, Dorothy Glauser passed away at the age of 93.  A second generation Houstonian, she graduated from Rice in 1940 where she was a member of the Elizabeth Baldwin Society.  She “took pride in and deeply loved her family”.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.

Brain wave-reading robot might help stroke patients (Rice News)

James Bryant (1940 - 2012):
On August  18, Dr. James Bryant passed away at the age of 71.  A native South Carolinian, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Clemson, a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Rice in 1965 and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from Clemson. He worked all over the world and retired from Auburn.  Click here for The Greenville News obituary.

James Ragan '14:
As reported yesterday, James Ragan is a Rice student-athlete with cancer and founder of Triumph Over Kid Cancer Foundation.  Click here for a video of his CPRIT interview.

Frank Jones '63:
Frank Jones lost 2 uncles, both of whom attended Rice, this summer.

On June 24, David Howell-Jones passed away at this home in Washington at the age of 88.  A native Houstonian, he graduated from Rice in 1944.  He was a self-employed writer and editor.  Click here for the Washington Post obituary.

On August 16, Fred H Jones, Lt Col USAF (ret) passed away in Albuquerque.  Born in Houston in 1917, he left Rice at the end of his junior year in 1941 to join Aviation Cadets.  He retired from military service in 1970 with 15 awards.  Afterwards, he was active in service organizations and teaching.  Click here for his obituary.
