Tonight, Jeff Niemann (10-4, 3.67) is scheduled to start for Tampa Bay against Toronto.

MLB/MiLB Scoreboard Yesterday:
Jared Rogers pitched 6 shutout innings but got a no-decision as the Marlins eventually lost a Gulf Coast League semifinal game to the Rays, 1-0, in 10 innings.

Josh Rodriguez (.276) and Joe Savery (.342) had 2-hit games for Triple-A Columbus and Lehigh Valley, respectively, while Chad Mozingo (.245) had a 3-hit game for Short Season Class-A Vermont.

On Saturday, Triple-A Portland activated Craig Stansberry from the 7 day DL.

MLB/MiLB Scoreboard Yesterday:
David Aardsma (0-6, 3.95) recorded his 25th save for Seattle.

Craig Stansberry (.255) went 3-for-5 with a run and a strikeout for Triple-A Portland while Jimmy Comerota (.211) went 2-for-4 with a strikeout for Short Season Class-A Yakima.  Danny Lehmann (.241) and Josh Rodriguez (.273) doubled for Triple-A Rochester and Columbus, respectively, while Aaron Luna (.277) homered for Double-A Springfield.

Related Owls in Professional Baseball:
I am trying to compile a list of "Related Owls" in Professional Baseball.  So far, I have the following: Clay Buchholz (related to Tommy and Warren Alexander), Jeff Mandel (related to Kyle Wendel) and Kyle Snyder (related to Don Snyder).  If you know of others, please email me.

MLB/MiLB Scoreboard Yesterday:
Tim Byrdak (2-1, 3.51) earned his 9th hold for Houston.  Matt Langwell (4-2, 1.99) recorded his 5th save for Hi-A Kingston and extended his scoreless inning streak to 17 2/3 innings, the longest for the Indians this season.  Joe Savery (1-11, 4.84) got a no-decision for Triple-A Lehigh Valley and batted 1-for-2 with a RBI.

Brian Friday (.261) and Aaron Luna (.276) had 2-hit games for Triple-A Indianapolis and Double-A Springfield, respectively.

On August 21, Double-A Portland placed Bryce Cox on the 7 day DL.  On August 25, Triple-A Portland placed Craig Stansberry on the 7 day DL.

MLB/MiLB Scoreboard Yesterday:
Jared Gayhart (3-3, 2.48) was the winning pitcher for Hi-A Lakeland.  Cole St.Clair (1-2, 4.20) pitched the 9th in a no-save situation for Double-A Chattanooga and struck out the side, swinging.

Designated hitter Joe Savery (.333) went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 runs for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.  Joe "got the nod to serve as DH after hitting 5 balls out of the park in batting practice".

In addition to Philip Humber (1-0, 4.22) recording his first major league win, Tim Byrdak (2-1, 3.55) earned his 3rd hold in as many nights for Houston.  Jeff Niemann (10-4, 3.67) had a tough outing for Tampa Bay after being activated from the DL.

Paul Janish (.278) went 3-for-5 with the game-tying single in the ninth for Cincinnati.  Rick Hague (.311) hit 2 doubles for Class-A Hagerstown while Aaron Luna (.276) homered for Double-A Springfield.

Daniel Cooper:
Last Saturday, former Owl Daniel Cooper was promoted from Class-A Clinton to High-A High Desert.
