Edward Robbins Koger (1976 - 2011):
On July 15, Edward Robbins "Rob" Koger passed away at the age of 35.  A native of Kansas, he received an undergraduate degree from Middlebury and a MBA from Rice in 2004.  He was a rancher and a financial analyst.  Also, he was a black belt in karate and tae kwon do and enjoyed teaching martial arts to children.  Click here for The Wichita Eagle obituary.

Gene Silver:
On Tuesday, Jennifer O'Neil, the stepdaughter of Gene Silver, passed away from cancer.  Gene was a defensive back on the 1949 Rice team that won the South-west Conference and defeated North Caroilna in the Cotton Bowl, finishing 5th in the nation.

Casey: Judge Emmett keeps the public informed (Houston Chronicle)

Thomas Potempa (1958 - 2011):
On July 21, Thom Potempa unexpectedly passed away at the age of 53.  A native Nebraskan, he received a BA in 1979 and a PhD in Applied Mathematics in 1981 from Rice.  He enjoyhed a successful career as a highly-respected senior tech-nical specialist with several major oil companies.  His joys were his family, his garden and religion.  Click here for the Chronicle obituary.
