Tony Cingrani:
Last night, Tony Cingrani (2-1, 2.15) had a no-hitter through 6.1 innings and only allowed 3 hits in 8 scoreless innings as AA Pensacola blanked Jackson, 5-0.  He walked 1 batter, struck out 15 and threw 73 out of 100 pitches for strikes.

Andy Pettitte:
Pettitte fractures ankle, out at least six weeks (MLB.com)

Philip Humber:
Humber to make rehab start Sunday (Chicago Tribune)

Player Moves:
Today, Philadephia optioned Joe Savery to AAA Lehigh Valley.

Player Moves:
On June 21, Josh Rodriguez was promoted to AAA Buffalo from AA Binghamton.  On June 22, Philip Humber was placed on the 15-day DL retroactive to June 17 (right elbow strain).  David Aardsma has made two rehab appearances for the GCL Yankees, throwing one shutout inning on June 18 and another two on June 23.

First-Year Player Draft:
Yesterday, the Draft concluded with Rounds 16 - 40.  Owls drafted were Taylor Wall by the Brewers (22, 695) and Chase McDowell by the Pirates (30, 916).  Also drafted were Rice signees Kevin McCanna by the Padres (22, 675) and Leon Byrd by the Mets (25, 770).

Other local players of interest drafted were Jeremy Schaffer (Bellaire/Tulane) by the Cardinals (18, 570) and MP Cokinos (Memorial/UH/St Marys) by the Astros (31, 939).

First-Year Player Draft:
Yesterday, Rounds 2 - 15 were completed.  Owls drafted were JT Chargois by the Twins (2, 72), Tyler Duffey (5, 160) by the Twins, Craig Manuel (10, 324) by the Nationals, Jeremy Rathjen (11, 356) by the Dodgers, Matthew Reckling by the Dodgers (14, 446) and Andrew Benak (14, 457) by the Yankees.

And, as a bonus, former Owl pitcher Scott Lonergan, now part of the Chicago front office, voiced the picks for the Cubs on the teleconference.

2012 First-Year Player Draft:
Yesterday, Round 1 and Compensation Round A of the Draft were completed.  Stanford pitcher Mark Appel (the nephew of Natalye Appel ‘80/’82) was drafted eighth overall by the Pirates.

Other local players of interest drafted were Courtney Hawkins (Texas signee) by the White Sox (1, 13),  Tyler Naquin (Texas A&M) by the Indians (1, 15), Michael Wacha (Texas A&M) by the Cardinals (1, 19), Steve Bean (Texas signee) by the Cardinals (1s, 59) and Tyler Gonzales (Texas signee) by the Blue Jays (1s, 60).

The Draft continues with rounds 2 - 15 today at 11 am CT and 16 - 40 tomorrow at 11 am CT.
