James A. Elkins III:
On Thursday, Jim Elkins died of an apparent heart attack in France.  A third-generation Houstonian and a member of one of Houston ‘s most influential families, Jim graduated from Princeton in 1974 and was very active in the local business and philanthropic community.  He served as a Rice trustee.  Click here for the Culture Map obituary.

Scott Wise '71:
All members of the Rice community are invited to join President Leebron in honoring Scott Wise for his service to Rice at a reception next Wednesday (June 16) from 4 to 6 pm in Brochstein Pavilion.

Scott, who was a four-year letterman and a senior captain in baseball, has served as Rice’s chief investment officer since 1989.  He has accepted a position with TIAA-CREF and will be leaving Rice later this month.
